![]() ![]() I rolled my eyes at the cocky insinuation, but couldn’t argue against his point. “Do you think anyone on this campus could ignore the girl who has Clay Johnson’s attention?” “Another thing I can help with,” he said, sweeping a large hand over himself. ![]() I chewed the inside of my lip, glancing at Shawn and then back at Clay before I lowered my voice to a whisper. Okay, so I’m about as easy to read as a billboard right now. My cheeks were so hot, I was worried they’d singe my hair as it fell over my face. “I can have him eating out of the palm of your hand by Thanksgiving.” My eyes nearly bulged out of my skull before I covered Clay’s gargantuan finger with both my hands and shoved it down, quickly glancing at Shawn to make sure he hadn’t seen. “He wants a woman of mystery, one who can be his muse, who will be a little hard to get, a little out of his league.” That guy?” He pointed a finger at where Shawn was playing his set on stage, the bar dim in comparison to where a soft spotlight illuminated him. “I’m a guy, and as a guy, I know what guys want. My eyes were mere slits as he smirked at his own cute joke. ![]() “Would you rather I call you Kitten again?” And there he was, Shawn Stetson, broody and mysterious and dark and handsome. ![]()

I have the feeling Hale took a lot of inspiration from Les Miserables for this sequel, from the discontented masses of urban poor on the streets of Asland to the whispers of plans to overthrow the king in salons around the city, it all makes Palace of Stone a very different book from Princess Academy, a far more mature book. Some of them are good, like Miri finding Asland not to be the shining city by the sea she's always dreamed of from poor, isolated Mount Eskel, but some not so much, like the massive amount of politics that's thrown into the story. A good book but without what made the original great.Īccording to Shannon Hale, the keyword here is revolution so I expected a lot of changes in the wind. ![]() Part of the charm of the original Princess Academy is the innocence of the characters, these simple mountain girls being exposed to the extravagance of royalty and court life for the first time yet finding inner strength in their own simplicity, and while Miri does grow as a character here, it's just not the same. ![]() ![]() Miri and Princess Academy grow up in this sequel, and I'm not sure I really like it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Until November (Asher) - Aurora Rose ReynoldsĮDIT - I have no idea why I did not mention - I have read and re-read all of Kresley Cole, Showalter (including those they co-authored), Moning (all series), Singh, Jeanine Frost, Karen Chance, Patricia Briggs, Chloe Neill, etc.Just to name a few. This shows that the Gospels were written from the point of view of individuals who witnessed different aspects of Jesus' life, and remembered different occurrences from the same events. She argues that if they had given identical accounts, it would suggest that they were more likely to have agreed on what to say together. I liked her explanations as to why the Gospels differ from each other, comparing the writers to witnesses about to give evidence in court. It's not the first book that I've read that has taken historical evidence, and evidence from the eyewitness accounts in the Bible, to give evidence that Jesus' resurrection was no fake, but it came up with some ideas I'd never thought of.Īt one point, Rebecca McLaughlin mentions the Romans as "key witnesses" to what happened, which seems surprising, but points to the evidence that the Romans proved the Jesus died on the cross, disspelling any possible claims that He may have simply fainted. I got given this one as a freebie, and enjoyed this. Is Easter Unbelievable?: Four Questions Everyone Should Ask About the Resurrection Story by Rebecca McLaughlin Both these books have a similar subject matter, so I'll review them together. ![]() ![]() The back and forth was really mostly at the start (and also towards the end of Vol 1, when I was thinking about Vol 2) - talking to them about the things they love, the things they wanted to do and try.
